Where are the protest songs today?

When the US-led war against Iraq broke up, there was a boom in the protest songs released those days against the outrageous Bushies' invading Iraq without global consensus. One of the amazing songs I heard those days, was of an American young singer songwriter Stephan Smith called 'The Bell' . Tonight just by chance, I got to know that he has Iraqi roots too.
